Many cattlemen have learned the value and benefits of heterosis, thus combining the genetics of both Hereford and Red Angus.  Bowling Ranch has placed an emphasis on developing their red baldy program. Bowling Ranch was honored in July 2024 by the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association, for donating the top steer to the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation. The Bowling Ranch red baldy steer placed in 3 categories: this steer was #1 for daily gain with 5.78 lbs, #2 winner for carcass index, and overall Reserve Champion out of approximately 60 steers.
